ANNAPOLIS, MD – Mar. 29, 2012 – A recent survey of the 50 state Boards of Election to assess the availability of the new 2012 voter files reports troubling results. The objective was to determine whether the current state registered voter lists reflect the reapportionment of Congressional and state representative.
- 26 states have voter lists that have not been updated to reflect reapportioned Congressional districts.
- 32 states have voter lists that have not been updated to reflect reapportioned state senate and legislative districts.
eMerges.com, a nationwide registered voter file vendor, which conducted the research, reported that in most cases, the absence of updated voter lists was due to the states’ failure to redraw their district lines.
